ESKK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - 2008
On Saturday 11th October 2008, the E.S.K.K held is first National Championships since its formation back in 2007.
The competition was held in the Bexleyheath Dojo and saw competitors taking part from all over the association, both juniors and seniors and was very well attended indeed.
The Championships started at 10am with an introduction and welcome from the Chief Instructor, Kevin Thurlow and a thankyou to all the competitor, spectators and helpers. Following the introduction, the events started with the childrens Kata sections, moving onto the adult Kata sections and then onto team Kata. Following a break for lunch, the competition resumed with the childrens and adult Kumite events. The day was then rounded up with the finals of all sections.
The referees for the day, were Kevin Thurlow 6th Dan, Sheila Thurlow 4th Dan, Christine Young 3rd Dan and Luke Waite 1st Dan.

At the end of the main events, two additional events were put on - these were childrens open Kumite and adults open Kumite. The winners of these events were:-

After all of the medals had been handed out, the referee panel discussed some additional awards, those of merit awards for the competitors who had shown excellent spirit and technique as well as competitor of the day for both the juniors and seniors. The recipients of these awards were:-

All in all, an excellent day - enjoyed by all that took part, watched and officiated.
At the end of the entire day, a final thankyou was made by Kevin Thurlow for making the day very special and run very smoothly indeed. He also thanked Samantha Thurlow and Sue Diprose for running the cafe all day, Sheila Thurlow for organising the competitors, the venue and the medals and Fred Thurlow for doing the photographs on the day. Not to mention all those that helped putting the chairs and tables away, managing the car park etc.
